Zoopy WordPress plugin created by one of our users

If your blog is powered by WordPress, you’ll appreciate a very handy plugin created by Zoopy user and South African blogger Wogan May.

The current version of the plugin allows you to embed videos into your WordPress blog posts by simply inserting the Zoopy Quick URL for the video item you’re interested in, without having to use the item’s full embed code. You’re also able to adjust the size of your embedded videos from within your WordPress admin panel. So everything’s very quick and extremely easy.

To download the plugin or find out more, view the WP-Zoopy project page on Wogan’s blog: http://code.woganmay.com/wp-zoopy. And because it’s his own personal labour of Zoopy love, you’ll need to contact Wogan directly about any queries, features or requests :)

Nice job Wogan!

The Zoopy Song

Gerhard Burger is Zoopy’s Systems Administrator extraordinaire. When he first joined the team, beyond impressing us with his get-it-done approach to IT, he uploaded a few songs to his Zoopy profile that sounded pretty interesting. What made them even more entertaining was that it was his voice behind the tunes.

Obviously with talent like this in the team, it could only mean one thing. A Zoopy song. Fast forward a couple of months and Gerhard has produced a track worthy of any phone’s ringtone :) He played guitar, drums, bass and sang the vocals, all recorded separately and then mixed together at the end. Genius! It’s fun, catchy and spreads the message that it’s all about sharing at Zoopy.

Play it:

Sing along with the Zoopy Share On lyrics

Do you feel the need?
And are you begging please?
Do you need a place where you can share your life with the world?
Well come to Zoopy, ‘cause if you don’t you’ll be losing out.
If you share with us we will share the world with you.

There’s so much left to share in this world.
There’s so much left to share.
Well come on Zoopy share on! (Repeat)

The making of the Zoopy song

C’mon Zoopy, share on!

Zoopy supports anti-piracy campaign

As On Screen (our movie review, interview and buzz show on Zoopy TV) continues to grow in popularity amongst movie fans, Zoopy has proudly added our support to the anti-piracy campaign created by Stepping Stone Pictures, the producers of the local big screen comedy White Wedding.

Movie audiences are really co-owners in the whole film experience. It’s through their cinema tickets and DVD purchases that blockbusters are produced and new Hollywood stars created. Piracy removes the financial support from the public and in the end this obviously impacts negatively on the future of movies.

Of course the movie industry needs to do their part in keeping up with technology too. They have to work towards making it easier to access movies from home, or via phone, or PDA, because 21st century movie-watching needs to happen wherever the viewer wants it to happen. But this takes money, which goes back to the paying public doing their bit to support productions by not pirating.

Read more about the campaign at IOL Tonight.
