We got off to a slightly later start this morning, with some crazy Joburg traffic, but thanks to Twitter we were able to stop Vincent from starting his presentation before we arrived. A few minutes later, Vincent was in Keynote heaven and the day moved swiftly on:
And that’s a wrap. We’re heading home, really chuffed at two days well spent: some of it on some very engaging, informative presentations, and much of it on getting to know people better. Oh yes, and some of it was also spent covering the event. Glad that it providedsomevalue
What a day. Early start, non-stop filming, photographing and blogging. Terrible cold, no voice. But one of the most enjoyable, intimate industry sessions we’ve been to in a long time. And what fun it’s been meeting a few of the Joburg new media minds, even though they’re still in denial about all the good stuff actually taking place down in Cape Town
In case you missed any of it, check out the blog updates and photos at http://www.zoopy.com/newmedia. This page will also be updated throughout the day tomorrow.
If you just want to dive straight in, here are our blog summaries of each of today’s sessions. More of the same tomorrow. And videos will start going up on Friday.
This time next week, the 2nd New Media Marketing Conference will be kicking off, with all kinds of interesting topics, delivered and debated by all kinds of interesting speakers. The event runs over four days, with the first and last days made up of workshops and the middle two being presentations and discussion.
Zoopy will be there as the conference’s official media sharing partner, filming, photographing and blogging the event throughout. To consolidate all the media generated at the event, we’ve created a dedicated social media page, that will display any media uploaded to Zoopy that includes a newmedia08 tag.
If you’re attending, please contribute to this page as often as you can. It will become a reference point for:
those at the conference
those who couldn’t make it
and those attending conferences in the future who want to refer back to previous years
We spent an amazing day at Stormhoek last week and promised to share the beauty and story behind this incredible brand, created by some incredibly passionate and wonderful people. When we said beauty, we meant it. This is the view looking out from the Stormhoek farm house:
And so we begin The Stormhoek Story. In the first video, Graham Knox (founder and owner of Stormhoek) explains (over a bottle or two of Stormhoek reds and whites) how this brand began and how it grew into a community-driven product that has Stormhoek fans buying bottles from all around the world.
Another four videos will follow over the next few days. So watch this space and, in the meantime, don’t forget to buy a vine!
We stopped to smell the roses (and the fresh sea air) today for a yummy birthday lunch at On the Rocks. With a bottle of Pongracz and a beautiful day outside, it felt good to reflect on how Zoopy’s grown over the last 12 months.
We launched Zoopy into Live Beta on 5 March 2007, after months of planning, building, testing, scrapping, rebuilding and retesting. We obviously had great expectations but the year that followed turned out to be incredible beyond measure. So worthwhile, so exciting, so full of learning and so encouraging for the year ahead.
To our members, visitors, partners, media and other Zoopyleans-at-heart, thank you for contributing to Zoopy’s growth and success in the last 365 days. We look forward to making 2008 even more enjoyable for us all.
Zoopy di doo dah!
P.S. Big thanks to Glen and Bridgitte for their birthday wishes in their latest The ZA Show podcast - love you guys
It proves, quite frighteningly, that video as a medium is incredibly powerful. Video has the ability to pierce the consciousness of the masses at rapid speeds because it so effectively communicates a number of simultaneous messages in an instant; with words, background sounds, emotive music and striking visuals. In the right hands, video can entertain, inform, educate and move people. In the wrong hands, video can be dangerous. And in some instances, almost lethal in its aftermath.
