The Loeries are heading East for the winter and we all know what that means. Industry recognition, career-making awards … and the biggest advertising party known to man.
We’re thrilled to be on the guest list, thanks to Bizcommunity, and we’ll be covering the event live from Margate with the incredible Biz team, throughout this coming weekend.
If you’re from an agency, and if you’ve got the guts, why not step up to the plate and create your own Loeries 2007 mini ad? The theme is simple – ‘Totally Margate’. Video, photo or both - it’s up to you. Show your fellow creatives who’s king of the ring and pitch up to work once the hangover’s gone with an ultra-collectable 4gig iPod Nano RED.
Entries close on Friday 27 July and the winner will be found somewhere in the crowds in the middle of Margate. All you have to do is register at zoopy.com and upload your creative masterpiece into the Loeries 2007 channel.
Take a look at some of this year’s TV and print finalists:
It’s incredible to work with people who just GET IT. Because the more WE (you, us, BMW, the industry) GET IT, the more THEY (viewers, visitors, customers, members, people!) GET OUT of the whole interactive experience.
Scott at BMW had an idea to take the car giant a few miles further into the great unknown. A couple of months down the line and here we are - The Gallery of One(s) is live. Together, we’ve created a BMW 1 Series photo and video channel and developed a co-branded space to facilitate the two-way exchange. It’s a collaboration between BMW and Zoopy that will hopefully introduce all kinds of new experiences to everyone involved. Including the guys at BMW and our team at Zoopy HQ.
Very simply, the idea is to take the BMW 1 Series and extend the concept of ‘one’ into an expressive community of people, all sharing their own idea of what it means to choose ‘just one’. So through photos and videos, users have the opportunity to have an unfamiliar, exciting experience with a very familiar, exciting car brand.
Dissonance occurs. Adrenaline rises. Prizes (iPod shuffles and multimedia packages) are awarded. Everyone goes home a happy camper.
Creative Commons has also played a very important role in the project. Everything uploaded into the BMW 1 Series photo and video channel falls under a Creative Commons South Africa Attribution-NonCommercial 2.5 license. In other words, anyone viewing the videos or photos in the BMW 1 Series channel is free to share or remix the media, as long as they attribute the work to the original author/uploader, and as long as it’s for non-commercial(profit) purposes.
We love giving stuff away. You feel good (if you’re the winner). We feel good. And suddenly the doom and gloom of interest rate hikes and striking workers all just fades into the background. At least for a short while
So we’re happy to announce that the winner(s) of our Claim to Fame competition, with a 5-star rating (based on 48 ratings) and 581 views is(are) theDBboys! Their hilarious slice of varsity life has earned them a 30 gig video iPod, which we know will be put to very good use back at the dorm. Enjoy it guys
Every time we go, we end up meeting more and more people at the 27 dinners. Max, Eric and The (mysterious) Lush provided all kinds of hilarity, for all kinds of reasons. Nice to meet you guys And of course, Dave played the perfect host to a very worthwhile evening.
As promised, we had a Sony DVD video camera to give away - but the lucky prize winner couldn’t make it down to Cape Town to join us. So Nico (Aquila Online) accepted all the way from Joburg, via an acceptance speech video he uploaded to Zoopy Nice one Nico - enjoy!
Here’s Nico’s very heartfelt video:
And a video snapshot of what went down at the dinner:
