Speed of thought

With such a techno-friendly world all around us, when are our bodies going to mutate to catch up?

We’ve had to quickly realise the necessity of phased functionality. My wishlist of 63 features has to be delivered in parts, like the uuencoding days of old. Remember when a downloading a picture off a newsgroup meant saving all 3 sections (raw code), then stitching them together into a .jpg/.gif? Crazy to think of where we’ve come from. Exciting to think of where we’re heading.

I wish development and testing could move at the speed of thought. My thought, of course, not the poor dev guys slaving away morning, noon and night. All good things come to those who wait. So I’m doing my best to be patient!

Smile a while

The Zoopy brand is already starting to come alive. It’s early days on the website functionality side of things but the look and feel is starting to come together. And I must say, it makes me smile.

Driving home the other day, I started to take notice of brand icons: logos, symbols, shapes and fonts. Some are pretty awful but some of them make sense and do a super job of creating the right image. But of the ones that stood out as being good designs, I sat wondering how they made me feel. Out of the whole lot, only one or two really had any emotional effect on me. Not emotional like bursting into tears. But something more than just an intellectual response to the logo as a represenation of the service being sold.

Anyway, by this stage I’m almost home and thinking that I’m probably over-thinking again (forgot to stop at the shop for milk, surprise surprise) but before I switch off ‘work mode’, I realise that there was a common bond between these two brand icons. The thing that made them communicate a feeling was that I had such strong memories attached to each of them.

To cut this long story short (TOO LATE!), our Zoopy logo makes me smile. It makes me feel like having fun online … and going to the effort of uploading and converting my videos to share with family and friends. I love this feeling and I hope the logo does the same for you guys … one day in the hopefully not-too-distant future when we launch!

You can video phone me anytime!

Nokia N93 video phone - yum!Got back from Canal Walk and I am gobsmacked.

The new Nokia Nseries phones are unreal. 22nd Century unreal. Saw a display and tried out the N93. Carl Zeiss lens, 3.2 megapixel camera and full high-quality video. Even features a viewfinder that you’d normally find on a video camera. The quality that comes out of this little thing is incredibly rich, unbelievably detailed and just PERFECT for Zoopy uploading :)

Only one problem. They’re only being released in December! Who can wait that long? It’s going to be a struggle. Just look at the thing. The only thing more stunning is the video that the little superphone spits out.
